4 Things To Do BEFORE Your Wedding Dress Appointment | LatterDayBride Wedding Blog

Written by Alyssa (Roundy) Phillips

You just got the confirmation - your wedding dress appointment is booked! What now? Just sitting around and waiting can feel slower than watching paint dry. No worries though, because we have a couple insider tips on exactly what to do before your appointment that will make time fly!

1. DECIDE ON A BUDGET

It's always fun to flip through bridal magazines or scroll through wedding blogs for months on end to see the beautiful scene that many brides set for their wedding day. It can be easy to get lost down the rabbit hole and it's not always a bad thing! But if there's one thing that will bring you back to reality, it's budget. I know, I know, the 'B' word can be a little bit scary when planning a wedding. That's why it's important to think about it and do some digging on how much wedding dresses actually cost. For example, at LatterDayBride, our average wedding dress price is $1100. However, our prices range anywhere from $500 - $2000. Even a rough estimate of what you're ready to spend on a dress can be more than enough. Then you can leave the stress of the 'b' word at the door once you get to your appointment!

2. GET INSPIRED

There are so many places you can find inspiration for the look you want to embody on your wedding day. In case you haven't had a Pinterest board titled "Dream Wedding" since you were 10 years old, start one! Look through our website to find styles you'll love. Even a simple search on Google Images could give you an idea of different styles.

Some things to keep in mind:

What kind of fit are you drawn to (fitted, ballgown, etc)?

Lace? Sparkles? Plain?

What vibe are you aiming to replicate (boho, rustic, classy, formal)?

3. CONSIDER YOUR LOOK

There are so many things that play into a full wedding day look. From head to toe, you want to be looking your best for the big day. It will be helpful to start thinking about what accessories you'd like in your look. When doing this, literally start from your head and go to your toes. Consider if veils or headpieces are something you'd like to include. Any jewelry? If so, gold, silver, pearls, diamonds, etc.? Take a look at your shoe situation.

4. TAKE A DEEP BREATH

If I could say this 2000 times to every bride I meet, I would. Planning a wedding, picking a dress, getting married - these are all things that are supposed to be fun! Yes, there are parts of this journey that aren't as fun as others. Maybe that's buying a dress, maybe it's not. Embracing all the planning for its goods and bads can make all the time planning just as memorable as the big day itself. So before walking in to your appointment, take a deep breath and just know that everything is going to work out. We are here to help!

Nothing for your wedding has to be completely decided before your appointment. It can just be helpful to check out some styles that fit your personality and get an idea of what kind of look you're going for. There are no wrong answers when it comes to this stuff! It's just about you and what you are envisioning for your big day. And who's to say what you want won't change once you get in and start trying stuff on? The possibilities are endless, which is what makes shopping for a dress so great.

If this to-do list leaves you inspired, book an appointment with us to get started!
