Your big day is coming up, and it’s time to find the dress! Wedding planning can be a whirlwind, but dress shopping? That’s one of the best parts. You get to try on gorgeous gowns and picture yourself walking down the aisle—it’s a total main-character moment.
But before you hit the bridal shop, you need to decide who’s coming with you. Everyone wants to be part of the experience, but let’s be real—some people will be way more helpful than others. So, how do you pick the right crew? Here are some do’s and don’ts to make your bridal appointment stress-free and fun!
DO: Bring people who get you.
Think about the ones who always give solid advice—whether it’s about relationships, career moves, or even picking the perfect shoes. Those are the people you want by your side. If you know you can’t make this decision without your mom, best friend, or sibling, make sure they’re there! Plenty of brides say they found the dress when they were “just browsing” and regretted not having their loved ones there. Choose people who will hype you up and help you make a decision you’ll feel amazing about.
DON'T: Bring people with overpowering opinions:
We all have that one friend or relative who loves to take over every conversation. Even if they mean well, this is your moment—not theirs. The last thing you want is to end up with a dress someone else picked because they were the loudest voice in the room. A little constructive feedback? Great. Overbearing opinions? Hard pass.
DO: Keep your group small and supportive.
Your dress shopping crew should know your vibe and be on the same page about your vision. They should also be present—no zoning out on their phones or getting lost in side conversations. This is a huge moment, and you deserve their full attention!
DON'T: Bring little kids or unnecessary distractions.
Bridal boutiques aren’t the best place for young kids. Fancy dresses, delicate veils, and sparkly jewelry are super tempting (and expensive to replace if something goes wrong!). Plus, long appointments can get boring for little ones, leading to restlessness and distractions. You also don’t want guests who are too busy scrolling their phones or who have somewhere else to be. Keep the focus on you.
DO: Keep it intimate:
A smaller group = less stress. Most bridal boutiques have limited space anyway, but more importantly, a small, trusted crew will help you stay focused. You don’t need ten different opinions—just the ones that matter most.
DON'T: Invite a huge crowd.
As much as you love your bridal party, your family, and your future in-laws, a giant group can be chaotic. Too many voices = too much pressure. Keep it under four people for a smoother, more enjoyable experience. Our store only allows 3 guests per appointment so we want everyone to be comfortable!
DO: Have fun!
This is your moment! Enjoy the experience, soak in the excitement, and don’t be afraid to say yes when you find the dress that makes you feel amazing.
DON'T: Let stress take over.
If it starts to feel overwhelming, take a step back. You will find the perfect dress—one that makes you feel confident, beautiful, and 100% you. Trust the process, and happy shopping!
